Day 38 Update

Good Morning! I didn't have a chance to post yesterday because we had tours of Blythedale and St. Mary's and tons of errands to run. Jon dropped Harry at school, then we dropped the babies at Mema and headed to Blythedale. It took us one hour and we didn't even hit any traffic. Needless to say we weren't thrilled with that drive as it will make it extremely difficult if not impossible to visit Golda daily if she were there. The facility seems fine, a bit school-like in appearance, but overall nice. St. Mary's looks more like a hotel than a hospital. The nursery is completely separate - closed doors, which is nice for security and the rooms are not as isolated. The babies are in areas more like alcoves than rooms. We decided that St. Mary's is definitely our first choice, but now we have to wait and see whether a bed will be available when Golda is ready to move.

Big news on Golda - she is now in a bassinet and doing great! She looks so much less tenuous in that bassinet than she did in the isolette - it is reassuring to see. They have increased her feeds to 30 ml over an hour every three hours and it seems to have done the trick - she now weighs 1500 g (3 lbs. 4.91 oz.)!!! I asked about such a large jump in only one night, but the nurse said it is fine. No registered apneas since the 16th which is awesome and other than a little irritation at her g-tube (that brown thing in the phots is the tube) site, she is truckin' along!

Golda, telling us what she thinks of clothes!

Looking a little more comfortable now that she was swaddled. Note BBB's pictures that he made her.

Leah and Micah are doing okay. They have been playing around with their feeding times and volumes lately which has been somewhat frustrating. At some feedings they want more and others less, but of course, it isn't like the 2pm feed is always less, just sometimes, so we can't plan for it. The good part is that they are starting to stretch the nighttime feeds so we have a four hour break between two of them!

We weighed them the other day on the new replacement scale. Shockingly, Micah weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and Leah weighed 4 lbs. 15 oz.!!! They are getting very close to doubling their birth weights (3 lbs. 10 oz. and 3 lbs. 2 oz.) which would be great. They have started eating breast milk mixed with formula since between them and their sister I am starting to have trouble keeping up! So far at least it seems like they notice the taste difference but haven't decided to complain about it.
Okay, gotta go and start getting ready now!
