Good Morning Everyone! I am sorry this posting is two days late, but as you can imagine from the title, things have been a little bit crazy around here! As I posted Friday morning, the nurse said that she hadn't heard anything about Leah coming home. She said it would probably be a few more days and so we had planned a day full of chores with quick visits to Leah and Golda. I signed off saying I was hitting the showers.
Well, when I came out of the shower I heard Jon on the phone saying "Today? She's discharged and coming home today?!?!?" Needless to say we were quite surprised, happily surprised, but surprised nonetheless! Apparently one of Leah's doctors was on the phone explaining that she really was doing so well that she could come home that day. She had even been evaluated by neurodevelopment and they said she didn't need any early intervention at this point! Well. Do I need to tell you how this threw the day's plans in the trash?!!? We quickly got dressed and ran our errands - dropped off prescriptions, ran to Babies R Us to get things Leah would need once she was home, picked up Mema from the train so she could watch Harry and Micah while we were out, grabbed some food for lunch. Then we quickly stopped by to see Golda, who was doing very well and finally made it to the hospital to feed Leah her 5 pm bottle, sign all the paper work and take our little girl home!!!
She has been doing very well at home. She's a slow eater (she spends most of her time pooping!) so we have been feeding Micah first, then Leah. All in all it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to feed and change them both - add in bottle prep and / or pumping and there is just enough time to hit the bathrooms in between feedings!
