Day 59 Update

Good Morning! Things are finally settling down here a bit. Leah and Micah are doing much better now with their reflux. We have them on twice daily doses of Zantac and they are eating Enfamil AR (anti-reflux, it has rice starch in it to thicken it). The Zantac is starting to do its job - keeping down the acid. Although they still have some acid reflux with most feedings, the Enfamil AR is doing it's job and keeping the food down so there is much less spitting up. That means more content babies after each feeding and during each feeding there is less fighting with them to get them to keep eating. Last night we switched them to Level 2 nipples on their bottles and that really did the trick - feedings went from 45 minutes to an hour with each of them to 15 and 20 minutes with each of them!! And today, I propped their bottles so they could both eat at the same time, and so the one not being burped could keep eating, and they were both finished eating and burping in 25 minutes! I was sooo excited! We even had time to dance to some music together before they fell back asleep! Imagine, getting to enjoy the babies! What a concept. And all of this combined with their new four hour feeding schedules means that we can actually plan to do things now and get some things done in the house too.

This is a very good thing since I am scheduled to start working again from home on Monday. I can't believe how fast the time has gone! Thankfully, my boss and I agreed before I even went on leave that I wouldn't return to the lab until January. It would have been incredibly difficult to leave now. We are going to start looking for some help - ideally someone to come in from 7 am until Noon every day so we can both get some uninterrupted work done. Most ideal would be someone we know, so if there are any volunteers out there, wink wink, let us know, wink wink!

Harry has been having some more difficulty with the whole sharing of the attention business - especially since his share has decreased from all of it to one fourth of it. He has been acting up at school and is now paying the price for that kind of attention, but we spoke to him about it and are trying to find some more alone time with each of us for him. Yesterday, just Mommy and Harry went shopping and out to dinner together, then to visit Golda. He was very, very happy.

I realized that some people can't access Picasaweb from wherever they most frequently check their email so here are a couple of the photos I posted of the whole family, and a couple of new ones too.

Hi guys, its so great to see the whole family together, keep up the good work. Everyone here is following with great interest, Kate especially. She can't imagine how hard it would be to share mummy with three babies, she had a hard enough time with one!!
